The Decision Dojo

One kick, ten thousand times. A courseware engine you plug any material into — and keep climbing until the material is in your hands, not your notes.

The one-kick rule

Fear the person who has practised one kick ten thousand times, not the one who has practised ten thousand kicks once.

So the unit of learning here is not a chapter, a course or a certificate. It is a capability — a move you can perform. Every book, paper, tool, dataset and engagement is just new material on which to practise the same fourteen moves: frame, observe, decompose, model, challenge, perturb, compare, construct, destroy, repair, explain, execute, reflect, adapt.

Never study a concept without converting it into a move. Not "I know sensitivity analysis" but "when a decision rests on an assumption, I can find it, perturb it, locate the decision boundary and say how robust the choice is."

The victory condition

Become extraordinarily difficult to fool about decisions.

Not infallible. Not omniscient. Able to enter an unfamiliar system, find the decision hiding inside it, expose its assumptions, detect where strategy, intent, decision, execution and evidence stop lining up — and make it executable.

Completion gives access. A test gives recall. Building gives competence. Breaking and repairing give understanding. Pressure gives reliability. Teaching gives transfer. Discovery gives insight. Never confuse completion with mastery.
The centre of the Academy

Every discipline contributes a lens; no discipline owns the decision.

The spine is one loop — strategy → intent → decision → execution → outcome → evidence → feedback → strategy. Science gives knowledge, analysis understanding, architecture structure, engineering capability, optimisation better choices, adaptation resilience, strategy direction, coherence alignment, execution movement, law legitimate bounds, ethics normative bounds, executive management stewardship, feedback learning. We do not certify that you know Decision Science. We certify that you can make decision capability work.

Daily dojo · 90 min
10 recall, no notes · 15 perception · 20 construction · 15 destruction · 15 variation · 10 teaching aloud · 5 journal: what surprised me, what is weak, what I attack next.
Weekly fight · 2–4 h
A case with no textbook, tutorial or solution. Output a decision brief: context, decision, owner, objective, alternatives, evidence, uncertainty, constraints, model, recommendation, sensitivity, failure modes, execution, feedback.
Monthly unknown
One field outside the curriculum — ecology, counterpoint, military logistics, liturgy, aviation. One question only: what structure here sharpens how I see decisions?
Every rating has three dials
Complexity · uncertainty · pressure. 1/1/1 is a tutorial. 8/7/6 is professional practice. 10/10/10 is a boss fight. Reading earns almost nothing; demonstration earns everything.

Seven tracks, one engine. Each audience trains a single signature kick until it is reflex, walks the gates that matter for its role, and faces its own guardian, boss and second boss. Everyone shares the same vocabulary — IDDC, pedigree, owner, grain — so a finding travels between rooms without translation.

Below, the material is run through all ten gates. Each gate has three drills and a pass test. A gate is passed when the test is met without notes — log it on the character sheet and move up. Gates outside your track are shown dimmed; walk them anyway when you want the harder road.

Challenges are earned, not chosen. Each class opens at a threshold of demonstrated XP, and a Guardian appears uninvited whenever your XP runs ahead of your Diagnosis — the system's guard against false mastery.

A Guardian has been summoned. Your XP is high and your Diagnosis attribute is below 4. Before any new class opens, diagnose someone else's finished work and find what it got wrong.

A person can be 10 in recall and 2 in diagnosis. That is useful information, so there is no overall score. Wisdom is on the sheet and deliberately earns no XP.

The body of practice: six schools, thirty-nine disciplines. Philosophy asks what a decision is; science how it works; economics and choice dynamics why agents choose; modelling represents it; design shapes it; architecture structures it; engineering runs it; optimisation searches it; adaptation changes it; coherence checks it; execution acts on it; feedback returns reality to it. Any discipline can be sent straight to the plug-in engine.

The badges are not the product; the body of practice is. Badges evidence parts of it, certifications evidence professional operation, the Architect evidences the whole, and the Fellowship evidences that someone has extended it. Positioned alongside established analytics credentials, not against them: they show broad professionalism; these show decision capability across disciplines.

Knowledge badges
Conceptual understanding — probability for decisions, optimisation foundations, causal inference foundations. Gates 1–3.
Capability badges
Something you can do — framing, modelling, scenario analysis, simulation, experimentation, governance. Gates 4–7, much harder.
Mastery badges
Integration across a discipline, evidenced by a substantial portfolio. Gates 8–10.

The black belt · CDEA
Certified Decision Enablement Architect
Requires all three master paths. Five gates — understand, analyse, engineer, integrate, defend before a hostile panel — then the 72-hour challenge: an unfamiliar organisation, incomplete evidence, fifteen things to deliver. And after submission, reality changes. The candidate must adapt the solution.

How every credential is evidenced
{{ e.name }}{{ e.pct }}{{ e.how }}
Plus reflection on assumptions and limits, and an oral defence for every senior credential. No multiple-choice route to anything above foundation.
Fellow of Decision Enablement · FDE
Not enrolled for — earned. Several certifications, substantial real decision work, published research, an original framework, teaching, peer review, contribution to the community, a passed integrated challenge and an oral defence. The Fellow extends the body of practice and shows the extension survives reality.

The Academy sits between university, professional society and practice: theory flows in, integration and practice happen here, real problems test it, research produces new knowledge, and that returns to the university. The curriculum must keep mutating — but a paper is not automatically curriculum.

The usability gate · a finding must pass all ten
{{ u.id }}{{ u.q }}
What passes becomes a kata or a special mission. What fails is logged with the reason — a rejected paper is part of the record too. Your own research quests go through the same gate.
The living loop. Practice produces cases → cases expose gaps → research fills them → the gate admits what survives → it becomes katas and missions → certification assesses them → practice produces new evidence. The Academy is a professional society, a graduate school, a research lab and a dojo at once.
